Janie Young Sutherland, 91, of Independence, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Independence. She was born May 26, 1921, in Grayson County, the Bridle Creek Community, to the late Elijah Young and Bessie Bagwell Young. She was also predeceased by her husband, June Sutherland; son and daughter-in-law, Ernest and Montie Rhudy Sutherland. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Harry C. and Nell Sutherland, of Elk Creek; eight grandchildren, Amy Phillips, Lee Ann Kelly, Derek Sutherland, Heather Boyer, Sarah Stolldory, Nolynn Sutherland, Brent Sutherland and Grant Sutherland; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in- law, Loetta Cornett, of Blountville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, with the Rev. Terri Johnson Gregory officiating. Interment to follow in Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until time for the service.
Memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, with the Rev. Terri Johnson Gregory officiating. Interment to follow in Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until time for the service.
