Garland Ayers of Route 2, Nashville, passed away last Friday afternoon, January 24, at his home. He had been sick for six months.

Born May 20, 1900, in Brown County to Thomas Edmund Ayers and Georgia E. (Baker) Ayers (both deceased). Mr. Ayers was 67 years of age at his death.

Mr. Ayers was married August 30, 1930 in Brownstown to Tressa Hamblen. To this union was born 4 boys and 8 girls. Mr. Ayers, a retired farmer, had been a resident of Brown County his entire life. Survivors besides the wife are sons; Robert E. of Nashville; Garland Jr., in U.S. Army in Colorado Springs; John Thomas in the service in Germany; and Michael, at home. Daughters: Betty Jane Shaw, of Flatrock; Maxine Melton, of Columbus; Mary Lou Smith, Louisville, Ky; Linda Conover, of Steamwood, Il; Janet P. Carnarous, of Columbus; Ruth Ann Good, of Indianapolis; and Helen Ayers, at home. One brother, Albert of Columbus and three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Shultz, Mrs. Ethel Shepperd, ad Mrs. Bertha Bradley also survive, as do 21 grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday the 29th at the Bond Funeral Home with Reverend Kenneth Kritzer officiating. Burial was in the Mount Zion Cemetery with Eddie Lee Bradley, Verlon Bradley, Jimmy Hamblen, Tommy Hamblen, Jesse Hamblen and Plessie Hamblen as Pallbearers.
