Biographical Information

Mary relocated with her birth family from Lincoln to Custer County in 1892. The family was enumerated in Elk Creek Township, Custer, Nebraska in 1900, but by 1910, they had relocated to Blair Ward 4, Washington, Nebraska.

Currently Known Family Members Are:

Father, Christian Christensen, b ca 1859 in Denmark

Mother, Maren "Mary" Christensen, b ca 1849 in Denmark. She was the mother of 4 children with 3 still living in 1900. B July 1849 per 1900 census.

Brother, Anton Christensen, b 1879 in Denmark or Nebraska. As Maren's obituary indicates that she immigrated in 1881 and married Chrisitan in 1883, indications are that he was Maren's son from a previous relationship. However, his obituary claims he was born in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1879. So, in short, a discrepancy exists.

Self, Mary C. Christensen, b ca 1889 in Nebraska (likely in Lincoln).

Brother, Nels/ Niels Holger Christensen, born on 25 Feb 1890 in Lincoln, Nebraska. As Holger Christensen, he registered for the WW1 draft on June 5, 1917 in Chicago City no 46, Illinois.

At that time, he was single and a restaurant manager in Chicago, which was also his place of residence.

On 15 Jan 1918, he and Helen Neff were married in Oak Park, Illinois. Helen was b ca 1892 in Chicago, Illinois, and 1920 finds the couple residing in Chicago. They had a 5 year old son, Sunard (Leonard), who was born in Illinois and may have been a stepson to Nels Holgar.

By 1940, Holgar and Helen were residing in Manhatten, New York under surname Christenson. His birth place was indicated as New York.
