Ole Kristensen was born on January 27, 1814, in Klitten, Hjorring, Denmark; the son of Kristen "Christen" Jensen Skraedder and Ane Andersdatter.

Ole married Else Marie Pedersdatter on June 11, 1839, at the Asdal Parish Kirke (Church). The 1840 Danish Census listed them as having a 10 year old foster son,, Ole Christian Jensen, living with them and a tailor girl, Ane Olesdatter, and Ole's mother, 70 year old Ane Andersdatter (she continues to live with them until the 1860 Census).

Ole and Else Marie Kristensen had 13 children and possibly reared a nephew to young manhood:

The story is told that Maren Amine and her husband, Mads P. Thomsen and their two sons (Ole Christian Thomsen, age 3 and Joseph Thorvald Thomsen,age 1)lived in Vendsyssel, Jutland, Denmark. They joined the Mormon movement to Utah, setting sail from Hamburg, Germany to New York City, NY, on 8 May 1865.Traveling with them was Johanna Thomsen, age 26, presumed to be Mads' sister. They were aboard the Mormon Migration ship, B. S. Kimball. This ship traveled in very rough waters and had a fire (that did not halt the voyage) and lost several people to smallpox. It is believed that Maren and her two sons died aboard that ship and were buried at sea. This information has not been verified. Mads P. Thomson, age 82, is found at an old folks home in Fayette, Decatur County, Iowa in 1919; whether this is our Mads has yet to be verified. The 1880 Danish Census from Asdal lists Ole and Else Marie along with their son, Peder Olesen-age 14 and Jens Kristian Kristensen (possible nephew b. 1871)-age 8. At that Census they are living in a group home situation where they work to provide their room and board.

After eleven of their children migrated to America, Ole and Else Marie made their home with their daughter, Oline Nielsen, in Vrejlev, Denmark; where they both are buried.
