Nicholas Burns appears on the 1790 Burke Census. He was head of his own household, but lived alone. His next neighbor was Phillip Burns. The 1800 Burke Census finds Nicholas living next to Richard Burger and Philip Briton.
Nicholas was married twice.
1st Wife: M: 1790 to Sara (Hoffman) Burns, 10 Child., b. 1774, d. 1806, Age 32
2nd Wife: Margaret Elizabeth Lowman in 1810. She also had 1o Children.
The 1810 Burke Census shows a neighbor named Henry Miller.
Ten years later Nicholas' next neighbor was Joseph Pitman.
The 1851 Probate Record (N.C. Estate Files) shows Nicholas' total estate was worth 718$.
$ 25.24 was deducted from this, to pay for Nicholas' funeral expenses.
