Came to America in 1722 at the age of 9 with his parents James & Jean (Thompson) Hopkins, brothers Samuel, James & Robert, and sister Agnes. They were Scotch Presbyterians who came from County Antrim in Northern Ireland and settled in New London, CT. In 1749 they moved to West Greenwich, RI where the parents are buried.
Agness, Robert and David ended up in Salem, Washington Co., NY. David married Sarah Polk and Robert married her sister, Jennet Polk. Agness died unmarried.
David and Robert both served in the Revolutionary War and are listed in the D.A.R. David Hopkins, Pvt. NY Mil.
