Laura Christina Schrader, nee Brandau, 101, of Romeoville, Ill., formerly of Rudd, died Tuesday (Aug. 15, 1995) at the home of her daughter in Romeoville, Ill.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 26, 1995) at Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 Sixth St., Rudd, with the Rev. Debra Stowers officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd.

A private graveside service for the family will be held at the cemetery.

Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Schrader was born Aug. 7, 1894, at her family's farm northeast of Rudd. After the death of her parents, William Brandau and Mary Lohr Brandau, the children moved to Nora Springs where they lived with their mother's twin sister, Amelia Lohr. REF: Mary Brandau (nee) Lohr

Laura was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Church in Nora Springs, and her membership was transferred to the Methodist Church in Rudd in 1920, where she remained a member until her death.

She married Harry E. Schrader on Aug. 14, 1919, at Rudd, where they established their home. Her husband died Jan. 4, 1971. At the age of 92, she made her home with her daughter and family in the Chicago area.

She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Rudd.

She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Day of Romeoville, Ill.; one son, Normand Schrader and his wife, Phyllis, of Fargo, N.D.; five grandchildren, Scott Shrader, Little Canada, Minn.; Susan Schrader, Fargo, N.D.; Christine Day of New Orleans, La.; Edward Day of Memphis, Tenn.; Amie Johnson and her husband, Ron, of Romeoville, Ill.; and two great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Ashley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Ervin Brandau; and sisters, Alvina Wholers, Clara Andresen and Florence Brandau.
