Lena Chloe Ayer Hicks, 79, of 3159 Heritage Highway, Bamberg, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at her home after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the Edisto Baptist Church, Branchville, with the Rev. Jakie Walters officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Hicks was born July 11, 1928, in Bamberg, a daughter of the late Hartwell Malone Ayer and the late Lena Zisette Ayer. She was a member of the Edisto Baptist Church in Branchville. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Hicks of Pennsylvania and Keith and Terri Hicks of Bamberg; one brother, Linell Ayer of Ehrhardt; two sisters, Irene Foley of Louisiana and Marilyn Herndon Holmes and Wilbur of Bamberg; five grandchildren, Melissa Lynch, Melanie Hicks, Kenny Hicks, Kristen Hicks and Taylor Hicks; one great-grandchild, Rowen Lynch.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Cooner Funeral Home in Bamberg.
