Actor, Entertainer. He was born in Melbourne Australia in February of 1934. He started off his career at Melbourne radio station 3UZ and made his television debut in 1957. His long runnng variety show In Melbourne Tonight (IMT) made him a household name across the country. The show ran for 13 years. IMT included musical acts, game segments, burlesque ads, and sketches. Although GK became known as the King of comedy in Australia, a title that he never felt comfortable with and in his life away from television he was shy and reclusive. During the 1970s his television appearances became less frequent. He appeared in films including Don's Party, The Club, The Odd Angry Shot and Traveling North. He had some success in the 1970s as host of the Australian version of "The Match Game" which was called Blankety Blanks. He did revive his career for a short time with a nightly news show called Coast to Coast but after the show finished its run he retired to the New South Wales Southern Highlands where he became somewhat of a recluse desperate for anonymity.
