Former Merchant Dies
Wellington A. Lockwood, Resident of Hebron for Twenty-nine Years Dies in Lincoln

Wellington A. Lockwood, a well known Hebron citizen died at Lincoln Neb., last Thursday morning. Mr. Lockwood had live (sic) in this city for twenty-nine years and had a large circle of friends in this county, He formerly conducted the general store now conducted by the Keith mercantile company and the later with his two sons, built and conducted what is now known as the Ortquist store.

Wellington A. Lockwood was born at Rice, Alleghaney County New York, Aug. 7 1852 and died at Lincoln Neb., May 22 1919 aged 66 years 9 months and 15 days.

He came with his parents to Rolling Prairie, Wis., when a child. He moved to Webster city Ia., but soon returned to Wisconsin where he made his home with his siter, Lois Aldrich.

In 1875 he moved to Rock Rapids Ia., where with his brother-in-law he engaged in general mercantile business. he returned to Rolling Prairie where he was married to Marion E. Goodrich. They made their home in Rock Rapids for several years.

To this union were born Wilbur N. Kipsie Gertrude and Roy Randolph. From Rock Rapids the family moved to Cedar Rapids Neb. Kepsie the daughter died at this place October 29 1884. Later the family moved to Springfield Mo. From Springfield the deceased moved to Hebron, Neb., residing here about twenty-nine years, being engaged most of the time in the Mercantile business. It was in this city that the mother of his children departed this life, Jan. 22, 1907.

On Oct. 3 1910 was united in marriage to Miss Addie Penman of Rock Rapids Ia., The have since made their home in Hebron.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, two sons, Wilbur N. and Roy Randolph. Two brothers S.H. Lockwood of Chicago and E. Lockwood of Huron S.D. and two grandchildren, Wilbur ad John Lockwood of Nelson.
