On 31 Mar 1795, Sally Reid, the daughter of Andrew Reid, married General Andrew Moore in Rockbridge Co., Virginia. Rockbridge Co., Virginia Marriage Bond (see photo).
"Andrew Moore to Sally Reid, on Mar 31, 1795 by Rev. Wm Graham." The same day they were married per the handwritten names in the Rockbridge Co., Virginia Record of Marriages, 1782 - 1830, on Familysearch, Film # 007579057, 23/329.
On the 1850 Rockbridge Co., Virginia census, I found Sarah Moore, 73 (about 1777);
Mary Moore, 40 and Magdalin Moore, 41, all Virginia born.
"Magdalen married Andrew Reid. Their oldest daughter, SARAJ, married ANDREW MOORE, whose father, also named Andrew, was a soldier in the French and Indian War. The son distinguished himself for gallantry at Point Pleasant. General Andrew Moore, as he was designated, was a member of Congress from the Lexington, Virginia, district from 1789 to 1797; he was re-elected in 1804, and that same year was elected to the United States Senate, rilling the place until 1809. lie died in 1821. His oldest son was a member of Congress from 1833 to 1835; was a member of the convention that passed the ordinance of secession in 1861, against which he voted. Then a very old man, the efforts of Henry A. Wise to dragoon him into the support of secession met with humiliating failure. Afterward, he served in the Confederate army. His wife was Evelyn, daughter of William Alexander, of Rockbridge. Their daughter, Sallie Moore, married her cousin, John Harvey Moore. The second son of General Andrew Moore and Sarah Reid was David E. Moore, a lawyer of high standing in Lexington, Virginia..." Historic Families of Kentucky. On 9 May 1859, Magdalen Moore, 60, born in Rockbridge Co., Virginia, the daughter of Andr. and Sarah Moore died from Epilepsy, in Rockbridge Co., Virginia. Her "sister, May M Moore" was the informant. Per the Rockbridge Co., VA Registerrof Deaths, line 17, on Familysearch, 199/635, Film # 004225407. It does not list where she was buried. I did not locate an obit for her in Virginia.
"DIED. At the residence of her husband, in Lexington, Va, on the 9th inst., Mrs. SARAH MOORE, widow of the late Gen. Anderson (sic) Moore, formerly a Senator from Virgina in the Congress of the United States." Published in the Lynchburg Daily Virginian dated 16 Jan 1860 (see photo). Note: Her husband was Andrew, not Anderson.
