SPANISH FORK — An interesting nuptial event of the past week was the marriage of Miss Grace Ashby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Ashby, to Sterling T. Bradford, grandson of P. J. Bradford, which was solemnized October l in the Salt Lake L D S Temple, with Richard R. Lyman, member of the quorum of twelve apostles, officiating.
Both young people are former students of Brigham Young university.
A reception honoring the young couple was held October 2 in the Spanish Fork First L D S Ward Chapel, which was decorated with palms and flowera and lighted by candles. In the receiving line were Mr. and Mrs. Ashby, P. J. Bradford and Mrs. Lola Wall, grandfather and aunt of the bridegroom; the bridal couple, Mrs. Merlynn Tanner of Los Angeles; sister of the bride; Miss Marcia Anderson of Spanish Fork, Mrs. Lee Peterson, Miss Hortense Butler, and Miss Lillian Young, all of Provo, and Miss Jean Bradford of Salt Lake City; Delbert Hales of Springville was best man.
The bride wore starched chiffon over taffeta and carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Tanner, matron of honor, wore pink taffeta, and the bridesmaids wore pastel shades, with matching bouquet of rosebuds. Mrs. Ashby wore black chiffon and Mrs. Wall blue crepe with corsages of rosebuds.
Mrs. Leah V. Nelson was in charge of the dining room, assisted by Mrs. Jennie Johnson, Mrs. Eleanor Taylor, Mrs. Alta Holt, Mrs. Clara Jensen and members of the Lieurance Club; Mrs. Lyle Creer, Mrs. Kate Lewis and Mrs. Dona Kitchen were in charge of the gift rooms, assisted by Miss Lois Ashby and Miss Bonnie Bradford.
After a honeymoon trip by plane to New York and the Atlantic coast, Mr. and Mrs. Bradford will make their home in Salt Lake City.
