Elias Meshack "Shack" Slaven was the son of Absolom Slaven and Elizabeth "Betty" Woods. On 5 January 1866, Scott Co., TN., by A.S. Lewallen, J.P. he married Celia Frances "Cealy" Milligan. They had 11 children: William Riley "Dink", John, Elzina Agnes, Mary Elizabeth, Thomas, Emmarine "Emma", Canzada, Rosanne, Zillah Bell, James, and Victoria Iness Slaven. Shack was a Civil War Veteran, CoI, 12th KY Regt, Inf., Union Army.
