John Wesley was the son of Absolom & Elizabeth "Betsy" Wood Slaven and the Grandson of Richard Harvey & Susannah Mounce Slaven. In March 22, 1866, he married Mary "Polly" Blevins in Scott County, Tennessee. They lived and raised many children, and died in the remote Big South Fork area of Scott County.
