Alfred Rhomberg, 84, of 1223 Rhomberg Avenue, a retired foreman on the Milwaukee Road shops here, died at 4:50 Monday afternoon at a local hospital.

The body of Mr. Rhomberg is resting at the Egelhof-Casper Funeral Home , where services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, with Dr. W. C. Laube, of the University of Dubuque officiating. Burial will be made I Linwood Cemetery.

Born in Dubuque on Dec. 28, 1858, he was the son of the late Herman and Christina Rhomberg, and had been a lifelong resident. He was employed at the Car Department of the C. M. and St. Paul R. R. Shops from 1872 to 1922 when he retired. He was a member of the Veterans Employee Association of the C. M. and St. Paul R. R. and the Carmen’s Union.

Survivors are one brother Fred G. Rhomberg, of Dubuque and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in April 1929; three brothers, Frank in November, 1941, Theodore, in 1882, and Herman and two sisters, Mrs. Sophia McPoland, in 1892, and Mrs. Catherine Mengis in 1929.
