John Ware, 30 years old, son of Mrs. R.A. Ware of Belzoni, and two other men, George Anderson and Willie Mitchell, were struck by lightning and instantly killed May 28 during a hard wind and rainstorm on the farm of W. C. Gillespy, on Sky Lake, about six miles north of the town. The men had run into a cotton house when the storm came up. Stephenson Archer, Jr., who was with Mr. Ware, was stricken down also, but soon revived. The storm was terrific In Belzoni and north.
