She was born on August 7, 1924, in Inglewood, Ca. to Roy and Anita Davenport. Dorothy was raised in Inglewood, attended community college and was a secretary for the Selma School District prior to marrying Lester Marcum, a Turkey rancher in 1946.
She was mother to Daniel and Alan Marcum. Following Lester's death in 1964 she married Lee Thomas on August 7, 1968, adding Wayne, Sharon, and Susanne to the family.
She leaves five children; eight grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; and her sister Margaret and brother-in-law Larry Sprecher.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Davenport; and step-daughter, Susanne Thomas.
Dorothy loved the outdoors. As a farm wife she sorted turkey eggs and went camping in the Sierras. She was PTA president and a trustee for the Methodist Church in Selma. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fresno. With Lee and the boys there were always dirt bikes and road trips on the motorcycle. After the kids left home, travel occupied much of their time. Locally they went to the Sierras with Yosemite being a favorite. In the West they loved their summer month in Durango, Colorado. They enjoyed running and running friends at the many competitions, including marathons. When the kids came home, Dorothy and Lee were always the first to rise heading to the gym followed by breakfast.
She was a wonderful sweet person who will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Lee Thomas life companion, love and best friend of nearly 45 years misses her greatly.
