Lydia, daughter of Isaac and Eliza Turner, was born in Boon county, Missouri, October 29, 1830. Was married to John Jay Clark on May 13th, 1848, and settled on a farm in Macon county, Illinois, where unto them were born nine sons and seven daughters, of whom one son and four daughters still live.
In 1872 the family, then consisting of the father, mother and six children, moved to Smith county, Kansas, and settled on a homestead in White Rock township, where Mr. Clark died seven years ago.
Mrs. Clark united with the Christian church about seventy-six years ago, and has lived a long Christian life to the best of her knowledge. As a monument to her memory she leaves on son, four daughters, twenty-two grand children, twenty-five great-grand children and one great-great grand children.
The funeral took place on Wednesday at 1 o'clock, from Mr. Lockwood's residence proceeding to the Independence church north of town, where the services were held. The sermon was preached by T.M. Brimlow, M.E. church, assisted by J.H. Ham-shire of the U.B. church. Interment took place in the Cora cemetery. The body laid to rest beside her husband.
