Funeral of Mrs. H.O. Wiltse of Manchester to be on Thursday

Manchester, Ia, Aug 21 - Mrs. H.O. Wiltse, 77, a resident of Iowa and this community for 75 years, died at her home on East Prospect street Monday at 2:30 p.m. She had been in uncertain health 11 years. She broke her hip three years ago, fell at her home May 25 last and broke the member again, was taken to an Iowa City hospital May 31, and remained there until one month ago.

Services will be at her home Thursday at 1 p.m., later services to be at the church at Wood, Ia., at 2:30, in charge of Rev. E.D. Wells of Dubuque, formerly of Manchester. Burial will be in Asbury cemetery near Wood. The pallbearers will be her four nephews and two sons, as follows: Spencer Fleming, Spencer, Ia.; Perry Fleming, Edgewood; Walter Rizer, Randalia; James Rizer, Robinson; James Leonard Wiltse, Strawberry Point, and Luther O. Wiltse, Manchester.

Nancy A. Fleming was born in Pennsylvania, March 15, 1852. She came to Iowa with her parents when 2 years of age and settled near Colesburg. A few years later her parents bought a farm eight miles northeast of Edgewood. She taught in the rural schools for seven years, did dressmaking for two years, and was married to H.O. Wiltse Sept. 14, 1879, at the home of her brother, James Fleming, eight miles northeast of Edgewood. Had she lived until Sept 14, she would have celebrated her golden wedding anniversary. She joined the Methodist church at the age of 11 and was a member of the Rebekah order. She is survived by her husband and the two sons named.
