Mrs. Ella Barr, 76, widow of the late Wesley D. Barr and former reisdent of the Edgewood, Manchester, and Arlington neighborhoods, passed away at Friendship Haven, Ft. Dodge, thursday, June 19, where she had made her home for several months.
Funeral services were held at the Appleton Funeral Home, Edgewood, Saturday, June 21, 1958 at 2 p.m. burial was made beside her husband in the Asbury Cemetery, northeast of Edgewood. Rev. wilson of the Methodist Church conducted the services.
Ella A., daughter of the late James and Matilda (Rizer) Fleming, was born December 16, 1881, near Elkport, in Clayton County.
For several years she taugh schools of Delaware County, Iowa. On March 19, 1902, she was married to Wesley D. Barr at Greeley, Iowa and started housekeeping on the groom's farm near there for two years. The family then moved to Alfred, North Dakota, and for several years Mrs. Barr was postmistress at Alfred, North Dakota. They lived in the Alfred vicinity until Mr. Barr's death in 1939. Since then Mrs. Barr has lived in Iowa and N. Dakota and for the past 12 years at Arlington, Iowa. Mrs. Barr was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Jamestown, North Dakota and taught a Sunday School Class there for years.
Mrs. Barr was the last member of ten children. Preceding her in death were Carrie, Mrs Frank Swartley of Fayette, Ia, Spencer Fleming of Spencer, Ia., Perry Fleming of Arlington, Ia., Mrs. Lucy Dietrich, Boise, Idaho, Margaret, Mrs. Jesse rulon, So. Gate, California; Jesssie, Mrs. J.B. Stevens; and three others who died in infancy.
