Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday (Oct. 30) at Bible Baptist Church in Slaton. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements are under the arrangements of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Masks are required at the church and graveside. Robert E. Moore was born on Nov. 28, 1927 to Harvey and Geneva Young Moore in Cuthand, Texas. Ed went to school in Cuthand. He was a World War II veteran serving with the U.S. Army in Osaka, Japan. Ed married Libbie Jane Cox in Cuthand in 1947. They moved to Slaton and have lived here for 73 years. Ed worked for Sand and Gravel and retired from A-Rock Material in 1992. He loved playing the piano and singing. Ed was a loving husband, father and grandad. He was an honest man of few words and also known as a perfectionist. Ed died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at his home in Slaton at the age of 92.Ed is preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, David Schmaltz; his great-granddaughter, Mary Abramovitz and his brother, Harold Moore. Ed is survived by his wife; his daughters, Linda Schmaltz of Slaton, Deborah Polk and husband, Ricky of Decatur, and Tracy Black of Slaton; his brothers, Gene of Slaton, Leon and his wife, Jeanette of Slaton and Sam of Wolfforth; his sisters, Louise Becker and husband, Jr. of Slaton and Maxine Cook of Slaton; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
