Hertha was the daughter of William August Nickolai & Hulda Marie Fratzke Nickolai. She married Raymond Knutson in Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro Wisconsin on September 11, 1952. She had three brothers, Albert Arthur Nickolai, (my Father's dad), Herbert Nickolie & Arthur Nickolie (who died at a very early age) and two sisters, Ella Nickolie Reetz and Laura L. (Aunt Laura) Nickolie Malson. One day she fell ill, not knowing what was wrong. She all of a sudden lost her vision. Uncle Ray took her to the Hospital and they diagnosed her condition right away. Not very long after that, she slipped into a coma. Uncle Ray told us later, as she lay dying, he was praying out loud next to her bed and while he was praying he heard her saying the Lord's Prayer with him out loud, but in a faint voice. She was a woman who had great faith in her Lord. Those were the last words she ever spoke on this earth. She died of leukemia in just a couple days after being admitted to the Hospital. Her remains, as was her wish, remained in Arizona. She was a woman of tremendous faith. Something to be admired, and something we all should have. She now sleeps next to her husband, "Uncle Ray", in Peace, throughout Eternity.
