HANLEY, Alma Eugenia – Age 71, of Lookingglass, passed away Sunday, December 14, 1997 at her home. She was born September 26, 1926 in De Kalb, Texas to Joseph and Lorene Burns. On July 3, 1943, she married Ralph S. Hanley. Mrs. Hanley and her husband lived in Broken Bow, Oklahoma and in 1954 they moved to the Roseburg area. Alma loved her bingo, working in her yard and making her quilts. Survivors include her husband, Ralph S. Hanley of Lookingglass; two sons, John B. Hanley and Phillip G. Hanley, Roseburg; two brothers, Alfred Burns, Roseburg; James Burns, New Boston, Texas; five sisters, Maurice Haggard, Houston, Texas; Verlene Burns, New Boston, Texas; Eunice Burns, Bakersfield, California; Elva McCright, Roseburg; Janie Hartsell, Jerome, Idaho; eight grandchildren, Angela, Lisa Ann, Joseph, Philip Jr., Paul James, Steve, Tina and Kelley; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, December 18, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the LONG & SHUKLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Private interment will follow in Lookingglass Cemetery. Chaplain Les Alberg will officiate. At the family's request contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Mercy Hospice in Mrs. Hanley's memory. Those who wish, may pay their respects from noon until 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Long & Shukle Memorial Chapel, who is in charge of arrangements.
