Former Employee Of Post-Crescent Dies at Age 77
Walter J. Schultz, former credit manager of the Post-Crescent, died Monday evening at Appleton Memorial Hospital. He was 77.
Schultz was born March 29, 1894, in Appleton and lived here all his life.
His career with the Post-Crescent began May 25, 1925, at the old Appleton Post-Crescent. He retired April 8, 1959. He was a member of The Post-Crescent 25-Year Club and was a charter member, director and vice president of the P-C Employees' Credit Union.
Schultz served in World War I and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks Lodge 337 and the YMCA.
He never married. Survivors include two sisters, one brother, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brettschneider-Trettin Funeral Home with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. Wednesday until the hour of services. The Legion visitation will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Military graveside services will be conducted. A memorial fund has been established.

Wally was born to Charles "Karl" L. Schultz and Wilhelmina "Minnie" Christina Meltz, on March 29, 1894, the seventh of nine children in Appleton, Wisconsin. The family lived on Oneida street just north of Zion Lutheran church. The house that they originally lived in was replaced by a house built by Wally's dad, Karl, in 1900. The family lived there, and when Karl passed away, Wally and his sister Clara, lived there until Clara died in February of 1975. The house is still standing as of late 2013 and the address is now 1008 N. Oneida Street (street numbers were altered some time in the 1920's).
