Erma Clevenger Thompson died April 21, 2013. Erma was born to Florence Smith Clevenger and Redmond Clevenger in Persia, Iowa, on January 25, 1937.

She married William S. Thompson on September 17, 1955 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Scammon, Kansas. They have six children: Teresa Klaus (Jim), Tom, Marshall (Michelle), Brian, Brad (Violet), and Deana (Byron). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and her brothers Redmond Clevenger and Bill Clevenger (Jean), and a sister Shirley Griffitt (Raymond).

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Neva George, Vinita Allen, and Joyce Tyree.

Erma was an avid softball fan following the Olathe Express/Peppers and several other local teams, including the KU team. She was an 18 year employee of the Olathe Daily News.

Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Penwell-Gable Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel, where the Rosary will be said at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Olathe, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Catholic Community Hospice or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mom hated hearts and flowery obituaries that extolled every virtue.
