Lloyd Lemuel Allen was born in Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas to Sarah Elizabeth (Pettigrew) and James Abraham Allen, the fourth of their five children. His family moved to the Los Nietos-Whittier area of Los Angeles, California before the 1910 census. The 1910 census showed Lloyd working as a delivery man in Los Nietos, a 1915 directory and his 1917 WW I draft registration showed him working as a pipe fitter in San Diego, and the 1920 census showed him working as a cement worker in Whittier. Lloyd was single in the January 1920 census and apparently never married.
Lloyd died 27 March 1922 in California, probably in Whittier. The previous manager of his Find a Grave memorial cited an obituary that was published on 28 March 1922, but where that obituary was published or what it contained is unknown.
