Those of the friends from a distance present at the funeral were Joseph Winters and family, Richard Winters and family, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Fleer, Mr. And1 Mrs. John Knickman,
and Miss Dora Schmidt, all of Dumfries; Gus Pein and family of Plattsmouth; Sherman Bacus and family of Pacific Junction, and Mr. and Mrs. Simon Stille of West Liberty.
Mrs. Pein was born in Holstein, Germany, June 29, 1854, her maiden name being Siek, and she was married to Mr. Pein in 1885, and came to America the same year, and settled
at Pacific City.
She was the mother of seven children, six of whom are now living, one having died in infancy. Those living are Robert, who is in Idaho, Walter, Freda, Edward, Mary and Martha.
She was a patient sufferer for a number of years, and during her last severe illness was uncomplaining.
Some years ago, during a revival meeting held in the community, she was the first of a number to be converted, and has ever since lived a consistent Christian life.
