John Campbell, Sr., age 88, of Abilene, Texas (former longtime resident of Sweetwater), passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Coronado Nursing Center in Abilene, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ward Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

John was born on July 9, 1924 in Roscoe, Texas. He married Edna Hillis on July 9, 1948 in Roscoe, Texas. He worked for the City of Sweetwater for 30 years.

His survived by his son, John Campbell, Jr. and wife Peggy; daughter, Shirley Hook and husband Jack; grandchildren, Karen Hook, Brad Hook, Amy Foust Ward, Casey Campbell and Jason Campbell; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edna and daughter, Judy Campbell Foust and several brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family would like to thank the staff of Coronado Nursing Center, Integra Care Hospice, and Doctors Lindsey, Parker and Bruton and their staff.
