Warren Goehring, 83, Rapid City, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Fountain Springs Health Care surrounded by his family.
Warren was born on November 17, 1929 on the family farm east of Mound City, SD to Karl and Barbara Goehring.
He graduated from Herreid High School in 1947 and was named the class salutatorian. After graduation Warren worked at the Campbell County Courthouse.
He then joined the United States Navy where he served from 1950 to 1958. Warren had a passion for playing basketball in high school and carried on his passion by playing for the Navy.
While stationed in Germany, he met his wife of sixty years, Ilse Meliset.
Warren then followed his heart and came back to SD to take a job at Hills Materials Company in Rapid City, where he worked from 1960 to 1969 as the office manager.
Warren decided to go back to college a bit late in life but the time seemed right to him. He attended National College of Business and received his Bachelor's Degree in accounting. Upon graduation he was offered a position by the college as Financial Aid Director where he remained until retirement.
He enjoyed his three daughters, and family was always very important to him. Warren enjoyed bowling, loved pinochle and cribbage. He was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Post 1273. Warren was a quiet man with just the right sense of humor and was always quite witty!
He is Survived by his wife, Ilse Goehring, Rapid City; three daughters, Christa (Greg) Mathey, and Cindy (Larry) Gruba, both of Rapid City and Monica Wright, Clintwood, VA; one sister, Lenora Ryckman, Pollock, SD; three brothers, Lester Goehring and Edward Goehring, both of Herreid, SD and Arthur Goehring, Alliance, NE; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
