LLOYD A. SCRIVEN, 87, of New Albany died Thursday afternoon (Feb. 19, 1987 penciled in) at the Skilled Care Nursing Unit at the Towanda Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. He was born Nov. 19, 1899 in New Albany, the son of the late John and Emily Gowin Scrivens. He had been engage in the farming industry in Wilmot Twp. for over 32 years and retired in 1960. His hobby was buying old houses and rebuilding them. He had rebuilt a total of 17 houses. He had been a member of the Wyalusing Valley School Board for 12 years and was its treasurer for two years. He was a member of the New Albany Baptist Church and was on the church council for 12 years. He was also a member of the Evergreen Lodge #163 F&FM of Monroeton, also the Towanda Scottish Rite Club and the Williamsport Consistory. He was preceded in death by a brother, Freeman and a sister, Hazel. His late wife, Ella Owen Scriven, whom he had married on March 22, 1923 died on Jan. 16, 1981. Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Annie Scrivens of Athens RD1; three sisters: Mrs. Lorena Harris of Towanda RD 3, Mrs. Nellie Williams of Athens and Mrs. Agnes McCarty of Athens; sister-in-law, Mrs. Etha Scrivens of Sayre, several cousins, nephews and nieces. Funeral and committal services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the New Albany Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Berg, his pastor officiating. Interment will be in the New Era Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter St., Dushore on Sunday 7-9 p.m. and Monday at the New Albany Baptist Church from noon until the time of the funeral service. Masonic funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Sunday at 7:30 p.m. by member of the Evergreen Lodge #163. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions and memorials be directed to the New Albany Baptist Church or the New Albany Public Library. -Towanda Daily Review
