GREENTOWN - Arlene A. Balsbaugh, 90, formerly of Macy, Ind., died at 7:23 p.m. Saturday at Howard Regional Health Systems in Kokomo. She was born on Feb. 19, 1916, near Deedsville, to LeRoy and Ruth (Wilson) Mills. She graduated from Deedsville High School in 1934 and married Joseph Balsbaugh on March 28, 1937. He preceded her in death March 17, 2005.
Arlene was a homemaker and a member of the Mexico Church of the Brethren. She was also active in the Women's Fellowship of the Church where she worked on many sewing projects.
Arlene is survived by five daughters, Delora (Lynn) Clapp, Greentown, Jo Ella (Conrad) Maugans, Kokomo, Marquita (Dennis) Tilden, Macy, Janita Beall, Kokomo, and Crystal (Gerry) Jackson, Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren, Julie Horne, Terry Clapp, Lisa Driver, Stacy Maugans, Cary Middlekauff, Tim Middlekauff, Kristy Lynch, Jeff Tilden, Doug Beall, Evan Beall and Rachelle Grismore; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeanetta Hunter, Peru; and one brother, Leroy (Margaret) Mills Jr., Macy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons-in-law, Max Middlekauff and David Beall; and two brothers, Myron Mills and Richard Mills.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Mexico Church of the Brethren, 450 N. in Miami County, followed by the greeting of the family until 4 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The rev. Todd Wenger and Rev. Don Ritchey will officiate. To follow her wishes, a private burial will take place in Mexico's Greenlawn Cemetery. Stout and Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, Russiaville, Ind. handled arrangements. There are no calling hours.
