Mrs. Sarah Jane Cloud Hewitt, aged 78, widow of Edgar Hewitt, died yesterday (Thursday), January 20, 1944, at her home in East End, Pittsburgh. Mrs. Hewitt has been in ill health for the last 15 years. Member of a pioneer Greene County family, she was born April 4, 1865, near Paisley, a daughter of Thomas and Eliza Cloud. She spent her early life in Greene County but had lived in Pittsburgh ever since her marriage to Edgar Hewitt, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hewitt was an active member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, William E. Hewitt, principal of the Watertown (N.Y.) High School; one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Shiner of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Otho Cloud of Pittsburgh. The late Dr. Milton Cloud of Masontown, was a brother.

(Democrat Messenger January 21, 1944)
***NOTE: Although the obit states Sarah was born in the year 1865 - her headstone clearly shows her birth year as 1864 AND the day of death is listed as the 20th, however, her death certificate shows the day of death as the 19th.
