Sarah Elizabeth Peters was born January 14,1848, in Ray County, Missiouri, and passed to her eternal home July 8,1925 at the home of her daughter Cora Belle Gardner in Iola, Kansas.
Mrs Peters resided in and near Iola for 42 years. At the age of 22 she was converted and united with the M.E. Church. In 1910, she transferred her membership to the Free Methodist Church of which she was a member until her death. She lived a triumphant Christian life until the end.For four years she has been greatly afflicted, most of the time and confined to her bed. During all of her affliction and suffering she was uncomplaining and gloriously victorious in her faith. Her life has been a blessing to many who visited her sick room.
She was the mother of ten children, six of whom preceded her to the spirit world. Those who remain to mourn her departure are J.H. Searcy, her eldest son, Mrs Ellen Leake, Charles S. Bair and Mrs Cora Gardner and a number of grandchildren.
