Anita F. Arning, age 95 of Centralia, died Saturday, April 7 at Centralia Manor in Centralia. She had worked as a sales clerk for Illinois Brokerage and P.N. Hirsch for 21 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid at the Church. She also enjoyed quilting, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10 at 1:00 PM at the Irvin Funeral Home Chapel in Centralia, with Pastor Perry Schefelker officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:00 until the time of services at 1:00 at the funeral home. for those who wish, memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church and will be accepted at the Irvin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Arning is survived by a daughter, Sandra Moss of Reno, Nevada; a son, Kenneth Arning of Centralia; four grandchildren, Lisa Jezek and husband Kevin of Midland, Texas, Cindy Pierce and husband Jessie of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ricky Moss and wife Stacey of Centralia and Stacy Arning of Sandoval; five great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was born on May 12, 1916 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the daughter of August and Rose Merton Francois. Anita married Lawrence W. Arning on October 12, 1940 in Centralia by Rev. F.A. Meyer. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1996.
