Thomas Clifford Dixon, 71, formerly of Washington Terrace, Utah, died at his home February 20, 1991, in McKinleyville, Calif.
Born June 28, 1919, Castle Gate, Utah, son of Thomas William Dixon and Mary Ann Stevenson. Spent most of his first 11 years in Southern Utah and Wyoming coal camps. He and his family moved to Salt Lake City for the remainder of his young years. He joined the Army in 1938, served his time in Hawaii. Returned and married Dorthea Yancey on March 10, 1941. Was called back in the Navy to do his part in World War II. Afterward, he went to work at the Naval Base in Clearfield for two years, then joined the Air Force medics before and during the Korean War. Spent many years living in Washington Terrace and working at Hill AFB Motorpool. After retiring in 1974, he did a lot of traveling and square dancing. Was president of the Golden Promenaders Square Dance Club for two years, and belonged to several square dance clubs in the Ogden area. Moved to Northern California in 1985, where he was residing at the time of his death. He is survived by: Wife, Dorthea Yancey Dixon, five sons, Clifford D., Washington Terrace, Utah; Tommy G., McKinleyville, Calif.; James Y., Murray, Utah; Danny S., Garden Grove, Calif.; R. Kelly, Salt Lake City; one daughter, Mary Ann D. Wilson, Lake Point, Utah; two sisters, Grace Black, Boise, Idaho; Gladys Pope, Layton, Utah; nine grandsons, eight granddaughters, five great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters; one aunt and one uncle of Salt Lake City, Utah.
