Rex F. Storey

Rex F. Storey, 81, of Nampa. died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, at a Nampa care center after an extended illness with complications of Parkinsons and heart problems.

Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at at Paul's Catholic Church Nampa. The Rev. Father Alfred Puccinelli, S. M. will preside. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Nampa.

Rex was born August 2, 1916 at Montrose, Missouri to Ray F. and Addie I. Storey. He moved to Nampa in 1927 with his parents, a brother and a sister. He attended Kenwood School and graduated from Nampa High School in 1934. He also graduated from Links Business College in Boise.

He enlisted in the 183rd Field Artillery of Nampa and Caldwell in 1941. In April, the group was sent to Fort Warren, Wyo. and after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the 183rd motored to Fort Lewis at Tacoma, Wash.

Rex was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force Motorized Section on July 1, 1941, at Fort Warren, Wyo.

He married Faye Mendiguren on July 6, 1942, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nampa. In 1957, he was baptized and became a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

As an officer in the Air Force, he served in many locations in the United States and also in Rabet and Casablanca, North Africa. After several promotions and the surrender of Japan, he was honorably discharged as a Major, in United States Air Force Reserves in July 1961.

After being discharged, Rex returned to Nampa and was incorporated in business with his father and brother as the Storey Feed and Seed Store and Storey Poultry Farm and Hatchery in Nampa, and they had a Feed and Seed Store and Grain Mill in Meridian.

Rex retired in 1980, and for fifteen years enjoyed winters in Mesa, Arizona. He played golf with his Arizona and Nampa friends. He and Faye traveled the Pacific coast and Southern States with their motor home.

He was a past member of Idaho Poultryman's Association, Country man Club, Kiwanis Club, and 50 year Member of Nampa B.P.O.E #138 "Elk's" Lodge.

He is survived by his wife Faye, of Nampa; a son, R.F. Bob" Storey and a wife, Barbara of Lynden, Wash.; a daughter, Anne E. Brand and husband, Bill of Bellingham, Wash. Rex is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don; and a sister, Aline Jones.
