Roxie, (Roxyphane Hogan according to marriage license in Charlton County GA), and William L Hodges were married April 30, 1866 in Charlton County GA. According to old census reports she had given birth to 8 children and 6 were alive at the time the census was taken. They lived in Ganeyville, Charlton, GA and at some point moved to Baker County FL. According to her obituary she moved to daughters in Jacksonville FL approximately 3 years before her death. Through out time, her named on documents has also been spelled Roxey and at time there has been a middle name used of Ann.

Mrs. Roxie Hodges, 64, died late yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.B. Nettles, 2419 Lakawanna Avenue , after a long illness. Mrs. Hodges was a native of Charleston County GA coming to Jacksonville about three years ago from Baker County. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Those who survive her are three daughters, Mrs. Susan Mulligan of Hagan, GA, Mrs. Matilda Garrett of Marietta Ave., and Mrs. J.B. Nettles (Zilpha) of 2419 Lackawanna Avenue. One sister, Mrs. Hennie Garrett of Lawtey and two brothers, Josh Hogan of MacClenny and Rufus Hogan of Genora. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home. The Rev Walter J Meade, past of the Woodlawn Baptist Church, will officiate. Internment will be in the Gravely Hill Cemetery under direction of the Seashole Funeral Parlors.
