He was born in Pulaski County April 16, 1912 and was the son of the late John Spence and Ellen Mae Kemp Spence.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marie Lowe and one son, Leslie Spence.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Lois) Arnold, Pulaski; six sons, Vestal B. Spence, Pulaski, Alvin H. Spence of Pulaski, Elwood C. Spence of Manassas, Va., Douglas E. Spence of Giles County, Roger D. Spence, Dulles, Va., Sandford W, Spence of Pulaski; one sister, Ruby Nichols, Allisonia; 26 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Lt. Robert Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Phillips Cemetery, Carroll County. Visiting will be Sunday evening at Stevens Funeral Chapel where the family will receive. friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, is in charge of the arrangements.
