My Uncle Dick lost his sight at the age of three. He was playing outside, ran in and slammed the door, a can of lye sitting over the door fell in his eyes. He was a very productive individual with a great sense of humor. He ran the Concession Stand in the Annex building by the State Capitol building in Baton Rouge.
I was fascinated by him as a small child because he could take a stack of money, and sort them by feeling the corner of the bill. People would try to give him the incorrect amount of money just to see if he could catch them, and he would say "No this is a $1 bill not a $5 bill."
He passed away of cancer.
