Adelaide M. Rosenbloom Paluzzi, 87, a former Valley Business Woman, passed away at the Bradford County Manor in Burlington, Pa., on Oct. 30, 2010.

She was born on June 9, 1923 in Geneva, N.Y., the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Dewyer Sullivan.

Adelaide's first husband Byron Rosenbloom and his three brothers started Jay Furniture Company in 1937 with stores in Olean and Geneva, N.Y., and in 1942 in Athens, Pa. Byron and Adelaide moved to Athens in 1951 to manage the Jay Furniture Company and after Byron's passing in 1960, Adelaide remained as manager until 1964 when she and her son David Rosenbloom purchased the store and in 1967 opened Jay Carpet Center. In 1962, she married Jim Paluzzi and was very active in the Paluzzi Clothing Store in Sayre and Towne Toggery in Athens until Jim's passing in 1994. She retired in December of 1988 from Jay Furniture and Jay Carpet Center and David and his family continue to run the family business up to the present time.

Adelaide was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Epiphany Church, Sons of Italy Roma Madre Lodge No. 1342, and a former member of Shepard Hills Country Club.

She is predeceased by her first husband Byron Rosenbloom in 1960, second husband James Paluzzi in 1994, and sister Helen Sykes in 2001.

Adelaide is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Laura Rosenbloom of Athens, Pa.; grandson Jay (Taunya) Rosenbloom of Athens, Pa.; granddaughter Jill (Jim) Lister of Athens, Pa.; and great-grandchildren Austin, Logan, and Mason Lister, and Nicholas, Troy, and Sydney Rosenbloom; niece Elaine (Al) Kernitsky of Rochester, N.Y.; nephew Richard (Teresa) Sykes of Sayre, Pa.; two great-nieces, and many special caregivers.

Friends and family may call on Nov. 2, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Epiphany, 304 S. Elmer Ave., Sayre, Pa., with the Rev. Vincent Langan officiating.

Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery.
