Diann C. Joos passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at her home. She was a cancer survivor of 11 years. She was born July 9, 1946 to Ralph S. and Violet Thomas Checketts.
She attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ben Lomond High School and Seminary in 1964. She enjoyed singing in girls' choir and she loved music and dance class. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Vae View Ward. She participated in choir, and also held many callings in Sunday School and Primary and worked as the Stake Librarian.
In 1960 she met a boy in math class who came along and dumped her purse onto the floor. She gave him a swift slap across the face, and from that time on she could never get away from him. On June 18, 1965 they were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. That lucky boy was Paul R. Joos. They spent 48 happy years together. They were proud parents of three fine boys. She worked as a day care provider out of her home, and proudly helped her day care families to raise 15 additional children as if they were her own. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Diann is survived by her loving husband, Paul; sons, Mickeal P. Joos of Clearfield, Mitchell R. (Amy) Joos of Washington Terrace, and Marc S. (Brandie) Joos of Clearfield; step-mother, Arlynn Checketts of Ogden; and sisters, Joann Schow of Vernal and Annette Kerbs of Roy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, a brother-in-law, and a daughter-in-law.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist's Washington Height Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Family will meet with friends on Wednesday, April 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
