Lewis was born at the family farm in Ayr on October 11, 1923, where he later farmed until his retirement. Family, friends and community were his passion. He graciously served as a 4-H Leader, PTA President and member of the Ayr School Board, Trinity Lutheran Church Board, Ayr Township Board and the Red River Valley Fair Board.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois (Huso) Wilcox; his children, Larry Wilcox, Ayr, ND, Lana (Clark) Roscoe, Fargo, ND, Lori Edlund, Oakdale, MN, Lavoy (Heidi) Wilcox, Horace, ND; grandchildren, Jodi and Sean Edlund, Erica (Jason) Mitsche, Jonathon Roscoe, and Miranda, Ian and Haley Wilcox; one great grandchild, Jacob Mitsche; and his sister, Alta (Burnell) Beilke, Buffalo, ND.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Harry and Lena Wilcox and two brothers, Floyd and Francis.
The family would like to express its deep gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at Villa Maria Nursing Home for their compassion, kindness and dedication to Lewis' comfort and well being.
Visitation: Thursday, November 30, from 5 to 7 in West Funeral Chapel, Casselton, ND, with a prayer service at 7.
Funeral: Friday, December 1, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Ayr, ND.
Burial: Buffalo (ND) Cemetery.
