He worked as a carpenter for the C. B. & Q railroad and for the last six years had worked as a night bridge tender in Beardstown.
Survived by his wife; two sons: John Fernandes of Los Angeles, CA and Thomas Fernandes of Springfield; and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Alexis church in Beardstown. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Jacksonville.
