Graveside services for CALVIN DEWEY SKIDMORE age 85 of Grapeland will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Denson Cemetery with Dr. Vance Drum officiating. Burial will follow in Denson Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland. Mr. Skidmore died Friday at East Texas Medical Center in Crockett. He was born October 31, 1915 in Houston County to the late Thomas Edward and Bennie E. Williams Skidmore. Mr. Skidmore was a retired barber and a member of the Christian Church of Grapeland, He served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Skidmore was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy Tullos Skidmore in 1984 and brothers Leo Skidmore, Ray Skidmore, Russell, and Harold "Boots" Skidmore. He is survived by five daughters Margie Nell Skidmore of Tennessee Colony, Barbara Ann Tolarski of La Plata, Maryland, Wanda Benge of Dripping Springs, Carolyn Sue Hayes and Judy Rathgeber both of Houston, a son Calvin D. Skidmore Jr. of Grapeland, a sister Edwina Banks of Grapeland and two Brothers, Dr. Clyde Skidmore of Bakersfield, California and John Skidmore of Houston, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Stanley Skidmore, Gerald Skidmore, Kenneth Skidmore, Richard Platt, Vance Skidmore. Jack Colvin and Eric Colvin.
