Matilda Cardwell Shown Dobbins Sawyers sometime after Green Shown died (it is assumed) This child could be her oldest daughter from her marriage to Wiley who was Viola. If not her then it is unknown who she may be.

Matilda Cardwell and her first husband, Green Wesley Shown who died in 1901. Together they had three children. There were three boys: Jehu B. "J.B." Shown, John Wesley Shown and Roy Green Shown.

She married again in April 1903 to Oscar Dobbins. Out of this marriage Hobert Roosevelt Dobbins was born. By 1910 according to the census, Oscar was back at his parent's home in Tennessee. Since Oscar was 23 years old when he and Matilda married and Oscar is shown as being 35 years old in 1910. It is assumed that Matilda and Oscar divorced sometime before the 1910 date.

Lastly, Matilda married Wiley G. Sawyers of Marion, Va. around 1914. Matilda and Wiley G Sawyers had 4 children together. There were two boys: William "Bill" Sawyers{who was a twin and sister twin died at birth} and James "Jim" Sawyers. Two girls: Viola Sawyers Collie and Frances Sawyers Poole.
