The family moved to a farm near South Plains, Texas, at the end of 1941. Warren attended school at South Plains and Providence, then graduated from Lockney High School in 1953. He was married to Barbara Joan Carthel on June 3, 1955. After they married, Warren and Barbara resided and farmed in Hale County. He was a good steward of the land, farming wheat, corn and cotton. He was passionate about classic Chevys, John Deere and good food. Warren has been known to offer unsolicited advice, especially to basketball referees.
