Lazarus Noel was born in Menallen township, Adams County, Pa., October 9, 1815, a son of Jacob Noel and Catherine Grainer Noel.

He was baptized at Conewago Chapel in Adams Co. on May 5, 1816.

Lazarus moved with his parents to Hamiltonban township, Adams Co., in 1816; and to Ligonier township, Westmoreland Co., Pa., in 1823.

Lazarus lived in Westmoreland Co. in 1838 - 1840 but also lived in Armstrong Co. in 1840, probably where he married.

Lazarus married Margaret Stepp, and they became the parents of five daughters and two sons (those listed and linked below and Mary Jane Noel [1849-before 1860]).

Lazarus and Margaret lived in Buffalo township, Butler Co., Pa. in 1850; and in Clinton township, Butler Co., Pa. in 1860 and 1870, when the latter township was formed from the former township; the nearest town was Saxonburg.

Margaret inherited her grandparent's farm in 1855. Besides farming in this area, Lazarus also worked as a stone mason.

Lazarus bought 3393 acres of land from A. A. Johnston in 1869 in the St. Clair Forest Survey on Chestnut Ridge, Ligonier township. He re-sold most of the land and only retained 170 acres by 1874. In 1875, Lazarus and Margaraet moved from Butler Co. to Ligonier township, Westmoreland Co., where Lazarus had spent his boyhood and early adult life. From this time through 1890, Lazarus retained varying amounts of land in this area. In 1877, Lazarus sold his land in Butler Co. to George Stepp.

At the age of 77, Lazarus died at Oakville, near Latrobe, Pa., on April 25, 1893. Witnesses confirmed that he was buried beside his wife; there is no marker for him. (Note: It is unknown if he is bured to the left or right of his wife; there is room on both sides.)

In addition to his parents, Lazarus was predeceased by his wife and two daughters, Mary Jane and Catherine.

He was survived by his two sons and three daughters.
