Obituary: The Sullivan News (Sullivan, MO) Jan. 9, 1936

A. V. CARTER Andrew Valentine Carter died at his home in Bourbon, January 5, 1936, at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 10 days. He was the son of Valentine Carter, a pioneer Methodist circuit rider. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida (Gerking) Carter, and six children, namely, Gertie Hyle, St. Louis; Fred of Colorado; Mrs. G. E. Campbell of Sullivan; Guy of Arizona; and two boys live at Bourbon. He has a sister also living in Sullivan, Mrs. Nannie Johnson. There are twenty-six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon in the Baptist church of Bourbon, Rev. Arnold Russell preaching the funeral. Burial was made in the Hill cemetery. An unusually large crowd attended, many going from Sullivan. Mr. Carter was widely known and well liked by every one of his large circle of acquaintances.
