Marcelino J. Griego, 92, of Cheyenne died Aug. 1 in Cheyenne.

He was born May 10, 1908, in Mora, N.M., and had lived here since 1945.

He married Amalia de Herrera in Mora on Oct. 6, 1930.

Mr. Griego worked for the historic Plains Hotel then the Union Pacific Railroad during World War II as a critical service provider. He later worked for Wyott as a cast molder and retired after 17 years of service for the city of Cheyenne Water Department installing pipelines. He also worked in the construction of the Atlas Missile silos in Wyoming and Nebraska.

He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.

Mr. Griego is survived by three sons, David Griego, Leroy Griego and Roger Griego, all of Cheyenne; a daughter, Mary Griego of Greeley, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Amalia Griego on Oct. 24, 1989; four sons, Joseph Griego, Antonio Griego, Alex (Lalo) Griego and George Griego; his parents, Emilia Medina and Jose Madaleno Griego; three brothers, Rumaldo Griego, Hepolito Griego and Antonio Griego; and one sister, Tomasita Griego.
