Abraham was the son of James and Sarah (Slater) Secrest. He married Sarah Jane Rennick on May 2, 1861. Sarah was the daughter of James and Mary (Owens) Rennick. Abraham and Sarah lived and farmed in Jasper Co. Missouri until about 1880 then moved to Pawnee Twp, Bourbon Co. Kansas where they continued to farm. They had six children.
1. Felix G. Secrest (1862-1915) Married three times, first to Cora Donahue and divorced shortly afterwards. Second to Sallie Alverson (1860-1891) Sallie died in childbirth. Third to Frances Ellen Crim, (1862-1936)
2. Mary Jane Secrest (1864-1939) Married Lawrence Stephenson (1854-1927) Lawrence was born in London, England.
